The case width might seem counterintuitive to the narrow strap, but it feels comfortable on the wrist. The lug-less design enhances comfort. The proportions are actually reminiscent of early 20th-century pocket watches converted to wristwatches, which were similarly large and paired with similarly narrow straps.

However, the case construction is a bit of a miss, as it features a frosted sapphire bezel on a titanium case; a case constructed entirely of frosted sapphire would be feasible and even cooler, though the price would be significantly higher.

For a sporty watch with a long power reserve, the standard Big Bang Meca-10 will suffice, but for enthusiasts of contemporary art, the Arsham Splash might be more appealing. I like it, but I find it pricey as a watch, and solely as a watch. Like all works of art, its appeal is subjective, but I suspect Mr. Arsham's reputation will ensure it sells out quickly.

Fusion Again The Arsham Splash is comparable in size to the standard Meca-10, measuring 42mm wide and 15.35mm tall. However, the Splash's look and feel are strikingly different. The case and caseback are crafted from matte sandblasted titanium, while the bezel is constructed from sapphire crystal, frosted to create a grainy texture. This deviates from the traditional polishing of sapphire crystal case components, but adds to the design's allure.

Beyond its functionality, the power reserve indicator is also visually striking. Driven by a linear rack visible at 12 o'clock and tensioned by a coil spring, it adds a mechanical element to the dial. The only drawback to the visual appeal is the needle-type hands, which, while practical, lack refinement.

As with his earlier Droplet pocket watches, Mr. Arsham designed a presentation box for the Splash. Rather than the standard limited edition box with additional logos, this one is an aluminum cylinder with a porthole shaped like the case, highlighting his attention to detail.
